Qualifying Dates and Locations: Noon, Monday, December 30, 2024 – 5 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025
Please note that due to the New Years holiday, our offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2025
Supervisor of Elections office locations:

Note: Qualifying paperwork may be submitted up to 14 days prior to the beginning of qualifying (Tuesday, December 16, 2024).
Qualifying Requirements: Candidates must: Be an elector (registered voter) of Sarasota County, be an owner and reside in Holiday Park.
1.Read Chapter 106 of the Florida Statutes and submit a Statement of Candidate (DS-DE 84).
2.File Appointment of Campaign Treasurer/Designation of Campaign Depository (DS-DE 9). This may be completed at any time prior to qualifying but MUST be completed by the time you qualify.ORFile Affidavit of Intent certifying that you will not collect, solicit, or accept any money or contribution in-kind, in connection with your campaign and the only campaign expense shall be the candidate filing fee or signature verification fee.
3.Pay the qualifying fee OR qualify by petition method.a.Qualifying fee - $25 (cash, money order, cashier’s check or personal check made payable to the Board of County Commissioners).b.Petition method - collect 25 signatures of qualified electors in the district. Candidates filing by the petition method are not required to pay the qualifying fee, however, there is a $0.10 fee for each petition submitted. The deadline for submitting petitions to the supervisor of elections office is Noon, Monday, December 2, 2024.
4.Submit notarized Candidate Oath – Nonpartisan Office (DS-DE 302NP)
5.Submit 2024 Form 1 – Statement of Financial Interest (completed online through the Florida Commission on Ethics)
6.Submit notarized Free Holder Affidavit
(Sections, 99.061, 99.095 and 99.097, F.S.)
IMPORTANT: All qualifying documents must be received by the elections office no later than 5 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025; a postmark within the qualifying period does not suffice.
